Mr. Richard Grennan

We had our final music concert of the school year in the Music Room and really enjoyed listening to Gamelan performances from Grade 3 and Grade 4 as well as individual pieces.  Well done to our Elementary musicians!  Certificates were awarded to students from different grade levels and a certificate was also awarded to Mr. Ashworth.  We are very grateful to Mr. Ashworth who has coordinated a fantastic programme of weekly assemblies, giving us the opportunity to come together as a community and providing for students the opportunity to share their learning and to develop their viewing and presenting skills.  Thank you also to Grade 5 who have been very principled in the way they have shared their learning space with us this semester.

Ms. Mary

Several of our Secondary School students kept the audience enthralled and entertained for 90 minutes at the Drama and Poetry evening. The three actors from the Drama ECA enacted short plays and monologues while Grade 8 and Grade 9 students read poems by Shane Koyczan and Edgar Allan Poe.  The actors and poets made excellent use of space as well as of their voices and body language, and the acting skills were impressive.  Thank you to the students who helped with lighting and backstage, to the English teachers Ms. Jane and Ms. Confait, to our support staff and to Mr. Ashworth who was responsible for the organisation of the event.  Special thanks to Mr. Michel Leroux, the Play Director who has been leading the Drama ECA.  We also appreciate the support of the parents and of the audience.  What a talented group of students we have at BIS!

Ms. Mary

PYP Moving-up Day is an opportunity for the students to spend part of a morning in next year’s class and to meet the teacher. Students found out about their learning environment next year and asked questions about the programme. Several students who will be joining BIS for the next academic year also attended.  On the same day there was a Grade 6 and 7 additional languages information session for Grade 5 and Grade 6 students and parents. This was held to help students make informed choices about their additional language in Secondary School.

Thank you to all involved in this year’s Moving-up Day.

Ms. Mary
